Leave it to a mother to invent eco-friendly flash cards that not only take into consideration the different learning styles of children, but also keep the planet in mind. Write Way to Learn Learning Cards are ‘flash cards’ with a twist. The idea for the learning cards emerged when Angie Sharp, founder of Write Way to Learn, was unable to find a teaching product that engaged her four-year-old child in a fun and creative manner. Using family photos and recycled paper, Sharp created a learning experience that blended all of the elements she desired.

Eco-Friendly Features

Write Way to Learn offers cards that are eco-friendly because all sets and supporting materials are printed on recycled paper. Since the cards are heavily laminated, they are reusable. In an effort to further reduce the impact the product has on the environment, the card sets are available in an optional web-download format that eliminates shipping.

Background on the Learning Cards

Write Way to Learn offers a Power Pack that includes uncomplicated, effective learning tools. Heavy laminated cardboard provides the base of the cards, which feature full-color photographs with spacious writing areas. Typical learning tools of this nature might be around the same size as an index card, but Write Way to Learn offers oversized cards measuring 8 ½ x 11 inches. Cards come sorted into four sets, which touch upon three progressive levels of learning.

After a child practices their writing, the cards are then wiped clean and ready for use again – perfect for teaching more than one child how to read and write. Another perk of Write Way to Learn cards is that they are designed to accommodate both right and left-handed learners. Large text is also used to encourage enhanced retention of information.

Sign language is additionally incorporated into the cards. The Power Packs utilize American Sign Language “Fingerspelling,” which provides another approach in tapping into the different ways that children best absorb information. Each card offers illustrations of a child’s signing hand. The sign language feature provides a supplemental learning experience, or can be used to teach children and adults the alphabet, names, numbers from one to 10, and spelled-out words in sign language. If you’d like to learn more about ‘Fingerspelling,’ there is a guide in each Power Pack that offers detailed information and complete instructions.

Write Way to Learn is primarily developed to engage the minds of children ages 3-8, but the advanced or American Sign Language sets can benefit older children and adults as well. In the future, expect foreign language learning cards, which are in the works.

An Added Personalized Touch

The Power Pack also comes with a personalized learning set that is customizable to include your child’s name, photographs or artwork. For example, use the clear picture pocket and blank writing area to teach your child how to write the names of extended family members. Simply insert their photo and begin a new lesson. The pouch will also hold magazine clippings and collages that expand the depth of topics and images, which will enhance the overall learning experience of your child.
